Koda is a mental health app for children, and parents. For children, the app focuses on providing a safe space for digital play, expression, and to help children make sense of their thoughts and feelings. For parents, it offers personalized advice, support, and access to resources like meditation, mindfulness practices, and interactive worksheets to foster healthy communication with their children.
The idea for Koda came to me through use of ChatGPT. Chat told me a niche app idea would be a children's mental health app. The idea took root in my head and I have been working on the concept for a year now. I took inspiration from a digital play app called Pok Pok, and pushed it further to include a space where children can reflect on their thoughts and experiences. Children are not often given the time and space to reflect, especially privately, and it's one of the most important parts of play and learning.
For the Koda logo, I used block like shapes that can be used metaphorically to symbolize childhood, and also to symbolize the balance we need to find within our emotional and physical worlds. I use the block shapes as graphic elements throughout the branding system and I use playful, yet calm colors to evoke qualities like compassion, intelligence, and curiosity.
